Processing of materials
In this task, you will build a mock-up focusing on design for disassembly.
The task is done in continuation of the activity Construction drawing, where you have created construction drawings to carry out a mock-up.
Teacher's guide:
In groups of 2 people (5 1/2 hours)
Based on the construction drawings you created in the task 'Design for disassembly - construction drawing,' you will now build your mock-up in the workshop. The task can be done using reused wood, but it can also be easily done with the wood available at your school's inventory.
Your mock-up should be based on a building part, such as:
- Foundation
- Floor joists
- Floors
- Exterior wall
- Interior or exterior cladding
- Windows
- Roof details
- Furniture or interior
Finally, answer the following questions (25 min):
- What do you think about building structures that can be disassembled and reused?
- What challenges are there in building structures that can be disassembled?
- What has been difficult about designing and building for disassembly?
- How is it to work with reused wood in general?
- Why is it important to reuse and build things that can be disassembled and repaired?
Evaluation and feedback (60 min):
- Present your mock-up to the class and the instructor.
- Provide feedback and evaluate the task.
